Macintosh software FAQ
Q: Why the printer driver does not work in OS X?
A: You may have installed OS X version software and logged in under OS X, but printing from a program that runs in Classic mode (built for OS 9, not OS X) then you will need to reboot into OS9 and install the OS9 version of our print driver.
Q: Why do I have problem to install the printer driver on OS 10.1?
A: Our software only supports OS 8.6 9.x and OS 10.2 above.
Q: Why does the Instantpublishercolor printer not show in the chooser on OS 8.6 - 9.x?
A: The OS 8.6 - 9.x version of the Helper/Print driver does not appear within the Chooser. It is a Desktop Printer which will appear in the list of printers when the user does File -> Print. If the printer does not appear on the desktop it could be related to a bug within the Mac OS. It only happens if the end user has no existing desktop printers prior to installing ours. To fix it, have them open the Chooser, select LaserWriter 8 and click anywhere in the selection box on the right, then close the Chooser. The missing desktop printer should then "magically" appear.
Q: Why do I get a please turn on the desktop spooler, desktop monitor and LaserWriter8 in control panel extension manager error on OS 8.6?
A: You will need to go into Extensions Manager and change the setting to "Mac OS 8.6 all", then reboot and try installing the driver again.
Q: What should I do when I have a failed file upload?
A: On OS 8.6 - 9.x, if any previous file submission fails, you need to delete some temporary files from your local driver. Go to System Folder--Preference--InstantpublisherColor Web Helper--In Transit directory, and delete any files in that directory. For OS X machine, you will need to delete the temporary files if there is a problem with one of the jobs in the queue. You can first try using the Restart Transfer option within the InstantpublisherColor Web Helper, or delete the temporary files that reside in the user's preferences folder (under user's /~Library folder) and start a new transfer.
Q: Why do I have problem to view the uploaded file even I have Acrobat 5.0 installed?
A: You may not have the PDFViewer plug-in installed for your browser. The PDFViewer plug-in is included with Acrobat products that display PDF files. If you select a PDF file while the PDFViewer plug-in is installed, the file downloads to Internet Explorer's Temp folder, and then Internet Explorer uses the Acrobat product to display the file within its browser window. To install the PDFViewer plug-in, move the PDFViewer file from the Adobe Acrobat Web Browser Plug-in folder into the Internet Explorer: Plug-ins folder.
Note: Before you can use the plug-in, you need to make sure that Acrobat is deselected as a helper application in Internet Explorer.
To deselect Acrobat as a helper application in Internet Explorer 5:
1. Choose Edit > Preferences.
2. Under Receiving Files in the scroll list, click File Helpers. (If necessary, click the triangle next to Receiving Files to expand the view.)
3. In the File Helper Settings panel, select Portable Document Format, and then click Change.
4. Choose View With Plug-in from the How To Handle pop-up menu.
5. Select the PDFViewer plug-in file in the Plug-in name pop-up menu.
6. Click OK to close the dialog boxes.
7. Restart Internet Explorer.

A: Acrobat 6.0 and later products don't include the PDFViewer plug-in, which allows you to view PDF files from within a browser window. Instead, you must configure IE to use the Acrobat product as a helper applications.
